Our BUFC family is growing...want to join us?
Brandon United Football Co-operative was imagined by Coach Alexander Cruz and brought to life with the help of Gerald & Margot Cathcart. The academy-style soccer school, a registered incorporated co-operative, was officially launched in August 2018. Approximately 50 kids, ages 7 to 17, showed up for the inaugural practice at BYSA Fields in Brandon, Manitoba. Although we are currently unsanctioned, our players, coaches & directors are all insured. Our coaches bring a diverse plethora of international experience, a wealth of knowledge and a variety of accreditation.
We had the pleasure of using the beautifully manicured BYSA Fields for August & September before moving indoors. We are excited to see what the spring of 2019 will bring for us !
From October to May, BUFC participants will practice between three Brandon elementary school gyms: Green Acres, Riverheights & Kirkaldy. We will have turf time at the Keystone Center for November & December only.
Brandon United's Board of Directors, Technical Director and coaches, have all taken COVID-19 and your child very seriously ! In accordance with Manitoba Public Health and both Provincial and National Soccer Associations, we have (or will) implemented the following:
- Hand sanitation stations
- Public Health/Coronavirus Waivers
- COVID-19 pre-screening
- Coaches will be wearing masks
- Child brings their own ball (size 3)
- Social distancing protocols will be strictly adhered to
Please remember, your child CANNOT participate unless they have been registered prior to July 13th as we need to pre-screen for COVID-19.
If you do not have a credit card, you can arrange to etransfer PRIOR to participation.
Thank you for your cooperation !
BUFC proudly has players from over 12 countries ! We have players mark their city on a huge wall map to celebrate our common ground within our soccer community ! It is exciting to see the different influences from the variety of countries.
From November 2018 to January 6th, 2019 BUFC has secured turf time at the Keystone. These Sunday times will be set up tournament style as to provide the athletes with some game experience to practice their skills and build cohesiveness.
Initially, BUFC was only going to have kids from 10 and up. However, when the younger siblings were attending, our coaches decided to create a group for them ! We have seen great improvement in our minis since August ! We are looking to build that group. If you have a 5-8 year old that wishes to play, please drop us a line !
September 2019 marks the first of it's kind -Futbol 5 - tournament in Manitoba ! 5v5 soocer played in an outdoor hockey rink. We plan on hosting this tournament annually. It was a blast! We look forward to hosting more tournaments like this one to help build our soccer community in Brandon and Westman.
BUFC is working on finalizing some fantastic fundraising opportunities to assist with some of the start up costs such as nets & balls, and jersey, shorts & socks kits. We are starting a 'buy-a-ball' donation wherein a ball can be purchased for the club on behalf of one of the athletes. We believe this supports the groundbreaking buy in for our community into the amazing program. If you would like to donate or have a fun fundraising idea - drop us a message !
Brandon United is committed to giving back to the community through charitable works & donations. The past two Christmas seasons, as a group we have had a non-perishable food drive, as well as a collection for household goods and children's items for the Samaritan House Ministries during our annual soccer family potluck supper. We recently donated all the items not sold from our fundraiser yard sale to Teen Challenge Thrift Store. We hope to continue to build this mentorship into our athletes. We believe strong community is the foundation for a more united future.
We are seeking some dynamic volunteers to assist with the operations of the Brandon United Football Co-operative. As a new, not-for-profit organization, we cannot provide the high quality of programming that we envision without the support of people like YOU ! We have many tasks, so many hands lighten the load. "A burden shared, is a burden lightened."
In getting started, we have identified several key committees which are described below. If you have already expressed an interest in volunteering, your contact information will be provided to the committee chairs. If you are interested in volunteering, please hit the FIND OUT MORE button.
Do you have skills that you feel would benefit the kids on our Tactical Tuesdays ? Drop us a line and let us know !
We look forward to building BUFC into the successful program our kids and families.
